MTN Uganda kicked off the Soroti edition of the Y’ello Storm with a series of community activities, customer engagements and network expansion initiatives as the company’s ongoing Free Your Fire campaign continued its journey across Uganda. The two-day activation runs until Friday, 17th July and brings MTN’s products, services and customer experiences closer to the people of Soroti.
The Free Your Fire campaign is built on the belief that every Ugandan has the ambition, creativity and determination to achieve more. Through reliable connectivity, innovative digital solutions and meaningful community engagement, MTN continues to provide the platform that enables customers to pursue their goals, grow their businesses and stay connected to the opportunities that matter most.
Activities on the opening day began with a clean-up exercise at Soroti Main Market, where MTN staff worked alongside traders to improve the trading environment before handing over cleaning equipment to support ongoing sanitation efforts. The engagement also recognised and rewarded merchants while encouraging greater adoption of MTN MoMo for everyday business transactions through merchant payments and customer rewards.
Customers also benefited from the Y’ello Health Camp, delivered in partnership with Zuri Health, where members of the public accessed free medical consultations, basic health checkups, wellness advice and health education. The initiative reflects MTN’s commitment to using technology and partnerships to bring valuable services closer to the communities it serves.
As part of its continued investment in Uganda’s Best Network, MTN also launched a newly commissioned network site in Lale, further strengthening connectivity in the area. The investment forms part of the company’s ongoing network modernisation programme aimed at improving voice quality, faster data connectivity and the overall customer experience across the Teso region.
Throughout the activation, customers are also engaging with MTN’s Telco and MoMo Clinics, where they can receive support, learn more about MTN products and services, explore affordable devices, activate new offers and discover digital solutions such as the MyMTN App and MTN MoMo that make everyday life simpler.
Speaking during the launch, Allan Njagala, MTN Uganda’s Regional Commercial Head for the Eastern Region, said the Y’ello Storm reflects MTN’s commitment to meeting customers where they are while creating opportunities for them to unlock their full potential.
“It has been encouraging to see the people of Soroti join us as we officially kick off the Y’ello Storm. Free Your Fire is about creating opportunities for people to achieve more through the power of connectivity. These engagements allow us to bring our services closer to customers, listen to their experiences and demonstrate how MTN can support their ambitions through reliable voice, data and digital services.”
Njagala added that MTN remains committed to investing in the network and strengthening customer experiences across the country.
“We know that reliable connectivity plays an important role in people’s everyday lives, whether they are running businesses, learning, creating content or staying connected with loved ones. That is why we continue investing in our network and digital solutions so that our customers can confidently pursue their ambitions wherever they are.”
The Y’ello Storm continues on Friday with customer engagements across Ocholimongin, Katakwi, Komolo, Wera and Akaikai before culminating at Soroti Sports Grounds. Members of the public will have the opportunity to participate in a blood donation drive, visit the vendor mini expo, engage with the Telco and MoMo Clinics, enjoy football matches, cooking competitions, tug of war, sack races, spin and win product experiences and live performances from popular regional artists like John Blaq and Ziza Bafana.
As part of the day’s celebrations, MTN will also hand over school fees support to two winners while customers enjoy the local favourite Atapa and Ebo for UGX 1,000 when they pay using MTN MoMo, demonstrating the convenience and value of digital payments.
MTN Uganda invites the people of Soroti and the surrounding communities to join the final day of the Y’ello Storm, visit the Telco and MoMo Clinics, engage with MTN teams, experience the latest products and services, and discover how MTN continues to provide the platform that helps Ugandans Free Your Fire.
