The NRM Election Disputes Tribunal has made significant strides in resolving internal party election grievances, with Chairperson John Musiime confirming that the body has concluded deliberations on more than 800 petitions since hearings began on July 29, 2025.

In an official update issued on September 2, Musiime revealed that the Tribunal has delivered written, reasoned rulings in a total of 813 cases, including 431 parliamentary petitions, 193 from Local Council V races, and 189 concerning Local Council III elections.

“We remain fully committed to delivering justice within the Party’s internal democratic framework,” Musiime stated, emphasizing the Tribunal’s dedication to transparency and due process.

He further noted that the Tribunal has now entered its final phase, with 14 petitions currently under review. These remaining cases pertain to elections for the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the National Executive Council (NEC), key organs within the NRM’s leadership structure.

Musiime extended congratulations to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was recently endorsed unopposed by the NRM as both National Chairperson and Presidential flagbearer for the 2026 General Elections. He also congratulated all Party members who have been successfully elected as flagbearers and leaders at various levels across the country.

“Their elections reflect the confidence of the membership and the strength of the Party’s democratic processes,” he remarked.

He acknowledged the “dedicated work” of Tribunal members, Registry officials, and support staff who have been instrumental in ensuring the timely resolution of disputes.

As the Tribunal moves to conclude its remaining assignments, Musiime reaffirmed its commitment to operating in full accordance with the NRM Election Regulations.
