KAMPALA– The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced June 26 and 27, 2025, as the official nomination days for candidates seeking to join parish-level committees representing Youth, Older Persons, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the ongoing Special Interest Group (SIG) elections.
EC Spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi confirmed that nomination forms can be collected and submitted at sub-county, town council, and division offices during the two-day window.
Mucunguzi emphasized that only individuals already elected to village-level SIG committees are eligible to contest for positions at the parish level. “For example, only members of the Village Youth Committee can be nominated for the Parish Youth Committee. The same rule applies to Older Persons and PWDs,” he said.
The EC recently concluded village-level elections for the SIGs: Older Persons on June 16, PWDs on June 17, and Youth on June 19, 2025.
