KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has warned staff, government institutions and members of the public against a suspected fraudster impersonating Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Lino Anguzu through a fake email account.
In a statement issued on 6 November 2026, ODPP Public Relations Officer Jacqueline Okui said the suspected impostor was using the email address; lino.anguzu@yahoo.com to pose as the head of the prosecution service and communicate with unsuspecting individuals.
According to the statement, the individual is allegedly using the email account to solicit information, make requests, issue instructions and potentially defraud ODPP staff, stakeholders and members of the public.
The ODPP clarified that the Yahoo email address is not associated with the Office or the DPP, warning that any communication originating from it is fraudulent and unauthorised.
The Office said it had reported the matter to the Uganda Police Force for investigation.
It urged anyone who receives communication purporting to come from the DPP through the disputed email address to disregard it and report it through the ODPP’s recognised official communication channels.
The warning also extends to government institutions, development partners and other stakeholders, whom the Office advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when responding to emails purportedly sent by the DPP or other senior ODPP officials.
The ODPP said the warning was intended to protect its staff, stakeholders and the wider public from possible fraud and unauthorised communication carried out in the name of the institution.
The Office reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its operations, protecting the public and maintaining confidence in the administration of criminal justice.
