Kasese, Rwenzori East Region – The Uganda Police Force has today successfully concluded the first day of a comprehensive Public Order Management (POM) training program for officers in the Rwenzori East Region.
The training, held in Kasese, brought together officers from all four divisions in the region—Hima, Bwera, Katwe-Kabatoro, and Kasese Municipality. The program is designed to enhance officers’ capabilities in managing public order while upholding the rule of law and respecting human rights.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Police Spokesperson for Kasese, emphasized that Public Order Management is not only about enforcing the law but also about safeguarding the rights and dignity of every Ugandan.
“This training aims to reinforce the importance of human rights, especially in high-pressure situations such as the upcoming 2026 general elections,” said SP Tumushime. “Our goal is to build a professional police force that is committed to justice, peace, and the safety of all citizens.”
