Police and local residents recovered body of man identified as Alex Katalama in Nakati swamp, Kyengera town council, Wakiso district.
Katalama, business man was reportedly missing for a while before authorities and police discovered decomposed body in the swamp.
According to police and local authorities in the area, decomposed body was recovered in June 25 and taken to Mulago National Referral hospital for postmortem.
The relatives of the deceased from Democratic Republic of Congo(Congo), are yet to travel to Uganda to identify the body of the deceased’s due to Ebola travel restrictions.
Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said that she will get back after confirmation. “let me cross check with Kyengera police about it. I will revert back to you,” she said.
The Police Annual Crime Report for 2025 indicated that 4,632 postmortem examinations cases where carried out at Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) mortuary. It also indicated close to 509 unidentified or unclaimed bodies cases, where some of them were buried at government public cemetery in Bukasa.
