A collaborative effort between police, the army, intelligence agencies, and local council vigilantes led to a successful operation arresting 36 suspected criminals in Kagala Zone, Goma Division, on October 31, 2024.
The operation, which took place between 12:00am and 4:00am, targeted notorious black spots known for harboring individuals involved in smoking and selling narcotic drugs.
The Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said a total of 36 suspects were rounded up from identified black spots. He said the suspects are believed to be involved in illicit activities.
In the course of the operation security personnel also recovered marijuana from various locations.
Onyango said the suspects are being held at Goma Police Station pending prosecution.
“This operation demonstrates the commitment to disrupting and dismantling criminal networks. Further intelligence-led operations are planned to ensure public safety and security,” he added
