Two individuals have lost their lives, and eight others have sustained serious injuries after a vehicle they were in crashed into a building. The tragic event took place around 6:30 AM on October 17, 2024, along Lubaga Road, directly across from the Luqman petrol station.

Initial investigations suggest that the accident happened when a speeding Toyota Hiace, registration number UAU 194T, was coming from Sanyu Babies Home on Butikiro Road and failed to brake while going down a slope.

Michael Kananura, the spokesperson for the traffic police, reported that the vehicle veered out of control and collided with a building on Lubaga Road, resulting in the immediate deaths of two people, including the driver, and injuring eight other passengers.

The injured were quickly transported to Mengo Hospital and Mulago Referral Hospital for urgent medical care, while the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Kananura noted that the vehicle was towed to Old Kampala Police Station for a thorough inspection as investigations begin.

He also urged all drivers to observe speed limits, especially in urban areas, and to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained to avoid such devastating incidents.
