Luanda, Angola – July 22, 2025 — Uganda’s delegation to the Second International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)/UN Tourism Ministerial Conference on Air Transport and Tourism in Africa has held a high-level bilateral meeting with Angola’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Marcio Daniel, in Luanda.

Led by Uganda’s Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Tom Butime, the meeting took place on July 22, 2025, the opening day of the three-day Ministerial Conference.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Uganda and Angola in tourism and air transport—two sectors considered crucial for regional economic integration and sustainable development.
“The meeting was productive and reaffirmed our shared vision for a more connected and resilient tourism and aviation landscape across Africa,” said Hon. Butime.

Running from July 22 to 24, 2025, the Ministerial Conference is a significant platform bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders from across the continent. It aims to enhance collaboration between the tourism and aviation sectors—both recognized as vital engines for economic growth, employment, and cross-border cooperation.

The conference is aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. Key discussions are centered on identifying barriers and opportunities to improve intra-African air connectivity, promote seamless travel, and boost sustainable tourism across the region.
The Uganda-Angola bilateral meeting is seen as a key example of the regional dialogue the conference aims to foster.
