The Vice President of Uganda Jessica Alupo on Monday, September 21st 2026, arrived in New York to represent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at this Years United Nations General Assembly.
On arrival in New York, Her Excellency Alupo was received by Ambassador Godfrey Kyobe, the Acting Uganda’s UN Representative at JF Kennedy International Airport in New York.
During the working visit, the vice president is expected to address the 81st United Nations General Assembly, High Level Week on behalf of President Museveni, hold several bilateral meetings aimed at pushing Uganda’s development agenda, and also address the African Women and the SDGs Conference among other key engagements.
The theme of this 81st session of the UNGA is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.” This theme emphasizes the UN’s commitment to fostering effective multilateral cooperation and addressing contemporary global challenges through collaboration and transformative actions.
UGANDA’S PARTICIPATION
Uganda firmly believes that multilateralism and international cooperation remain the most vital mechanisms for addressing our shared challenges. Accordingly, Uganda reaffirms her commitment to the principles of the UN Charter as the cornerstone of global diplomacy, supporting the interconnected pillars of peace and security, human rights, humanitarian affairs and sustainable development.
Additionally, Uganda believe the United Nations must remain agile and adaptive to evolving global realities. Uganda is committed to working with the entire membership to build consensus on necessary systemic reforms, particularly within the UN Security Council.
