ARUA District, Amina Abiriga, the widow of the late Arua Municipality Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Abiriga, is seeking a personal audience with President Yoweri Museveni to address unresolved issues following her husband’s assassination on June 8, 2018, in Matugga.
Despite government promises made in the aftermath of his death, she says most remain unfulfilled.
During a recent visit to the family’s residence, Amina highlighted the ongoing hardships they face. While the government delivered on its education-related pledge, the family continues to struggle with poor living conditions.
The once-brightly painted yellow house has faded, the roof now leaks, and at times the children go without food.
“I would like to meet the President so I can speak to him directly,” Amina said. “We have been patient, but life has become increasingly difficult. We need his intervention.”
She hopes her appeal will prompt renewed attention to the pledges made and bring much-needed relief to her family.
