KABALE, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the death of a 61-year-old woman whose body was found in Kabale Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Kyarikunda Lestituta, a resident of Omwibare Cell, Kashaki Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
According to Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, police received information about the incident on Monday, October 19, 2026, and officers from Kabale Central Police Station visited and documented the scene.
The body was later retrieved and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police have arrested a suspect identified as Mutabazi Andrew to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Tumushime appealed to members of the public to remain calm and urged anyone with information that could help investigations to share it with Kabale Police.
