The family of the late Ansanasio Buwule and Namulwana Eva of Budo in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, has filed a petition with the Presidential Special Taskforce on Land Matters and Environment seeking the recovery of their land, which was allegedly grabbed by a mafia.

Nambooze Samalie, acting as the chief petitioner for the family, lodged the complaint on September 12, 2025, at the taskforce offices in Mengo. She claims that their family kibanja, located on Plot 837 Block 535 at Kisozi B LC1 in Kyengera Town Council, was reportedly grabbed by their immediate neighbor, Edward Kibalama.

She told the lawyers that the dispute began when the family of Kiyengo Dan alleged they had bought the land from Kibalama Edward, who is the brother of Ssal George William—the person involved in the first land dispute.

Kibalama is an heir to Stanley Lukwago, a neighbor of the late Buwule Senior’s family, who owned this kibanja since 1932. There is evidence that he was paying Busuulu regularly to Makamba Estate. Therefore, it is surprising that neighbor Kibalama alleges his father, Lukwago Stanley, was a brother to Tabula, who allegedly sold the kibanja land to his late father without the knowledge of the sitting tenants.

Duncan Sematimba, secretary to the Makamba Estate, said they have records clearly indicating that the kibanja belongs to the Buwule family and that it has never been sold or issued a land title to anyone. However, they have issued letters confirming that the rightful owners of the kibanja land are the Buwule family.

Nambooze is therefore asking the taskforce to recover their land and evict the neighbor, with costs.

The taskforce has pledged to summon the other party to provide proof of ownership of the kibanja in question before a judgment is made.
