Ngora District — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged the people of Ngora District to reject “politics of lies” and avoid being deceived by politicians who offer small sums of money in exchange for votes.

Speaking during a presidential campaign rally at BK Demo Primary School playgrounds in Ngora District, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate emphasized that the NRM’s politics focus on solving people’s real problems.

“My good friends, the politics of the NRM is about solving people’s problems by showing them the way to go and assisting them where possible,” President Museveni said.

The President expressed concern that some citizens continue to ignore government programs aimed at poverty eradication and instead follow dishonest politicians.

“Some people come and give you 2,000 shillings and you vote them into office for five years. What can ugx 2,000 shillings do in five years?” he asked. “That is an insult

NRM’s Focus on Solving People’s Problems

Museveni reiterated that the NRM government is committed to practical solutions that uplift communities. He noted that the NRM’s approach is built on guiding people toward wealth creation and self-sustainability.

He cited several government programs aimed at reducing poverty, including Entandikwa, Bonna Bagaggawale, Emyooga, Operation Wealth Creation, the Youth Livelihood Fund, and the Parish Development Model (PDM).

“These programs were designed to empower households and provide opportunities for everyone to improve their livelihoods,” Museveni said.

Infrastructure and Development in Ngora

Highlighting the NRM government’s achievements in the district, President Museveni pointed to the expansion of roads and electricity networks, which now reach all sub-counties in Ngora.

He also announced plans for a gravity water supply system from Lake Kyoga, which will serve the districts of Ngora, Serere, and Bukedea. According to the President, the project will increase access to clean and safe water to over 90 percent of households in Ngora District, where 131 out of 146 villages already have access to clean water.

Museveni noted that several additional water supply projects are under construction across the district to ensure full water coverage.

Health and Education Priorities

The President outlined plans to upgrade and expand health services in Ngora District. Opot Health Centre II and Atoot Health Centre II will be upgraded to Health Centre III status, while new facilities will be constructed in Agirigiroi, Morukakise, and Ngora Sub-counties.

He also mentioned ongoing improvements at Mukura Health Centre III, which include construction of staff housing, a fence, and an immunization shade, part of the government’s broader effort to improve healthcare access in rural areas.

On education, Museveni reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Universal Primary and Secondary Education (UPE and USE), urging parents to support and defend the program. He announced that the government will establish additional schools to ensure at least one primary school per parish and one secondary school per sub-county.

Wealth Creation and Self-Reliance

President Museveni encouraged residents to embrace the NRM’s wealth creation programs, emphasizing that prosperity begins with individual effort supported by government initiatives.

He promoted the four-acre model, which urges farmers to engage in diverse enterprises such as coffee, fruit growing, dairy farming, poultry, piggery, and fish farming. He also highlighted cattle restocking as a key element of the NRM’s rural development agenda.

“Wealth creation is everyone’s responsibility. The government has provided the tools and programs, now people must use them to change their lives,” he said.

A Call for Informed Leadership Choices

Museveni cautioned the people of Ngora against being misled by opposition politicians, whom he said lack practical understanding of governance and national transformation.

“The NRM has a clear record of transformative leadership. The results are visible across Ngora, the Teso Sub-region, and the entire country,” the President said.

He concluded by calling on voters to re-elect him and other NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming elections to consolidate Uganda’s gains in peace, security, and development.
