KAMPALA,Uganda: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Nansana Municipality, Mr. Charles Lwanga, has revealed that government has secured funding and finalized plans for the construction of a modern, state-of-the-art market in Nansana Municipality.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for hundreds of residents in the area.
Mr. Lwanga made the remarks while officiating at the launch of the Nabweru Division Emyooga SACCOs’ performance review report, which highlighted achievements registered so far and outlined strategies aimed at recruiting more residents into the government’s entrepreneurship program.
He noted that government is committed to ensuring that its pledge to establish a modern market for the municipality’s business community is fulfilled, adding that funds have already been secured and construction works are expected to commence soon.
Mr. Lwanga further urged residents to support government programs and to vote for the NRM presidential candidate in the upcoming elections scheduled for January 15, 2026.
The RDC also commended members of the Nabweru Market Vendors Emyooga SACCO, led by chairperson Mr. Niyonsenga Yosiya, for emerging as one of the most competitive SACCOs in the municipality. He applauded the group for acquiring their own piece of land and constructing SACCO offices using profits generated from the Emyooga program.
In his remarks, Mr. Yosiya informed members that the SACCO has so far secured 69 plots of land for its members. He further revealed that several members have invested in education, establishing four different schools within the area, achievements he attributed to disciplined investment and strategic utilization of Emyooga funds.
