KAMPALA, Uganda: The Police in Kampala are investigating a fire outbreak that occurred today March 10, 2026.
Reports indicate that the fire started at about 6am in Kinawataka, Kaggo Zone, where a chicken structure caught fire, resulting in the death of approximately 650 chickens.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire noted tha preliminary findings indicate that the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.
He said the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services managed to responded to the scene but faced accessibility challenges to the affected area due to the absence of proper access roads.
“Despite the difficulty, Police worked together with members of the public to contain and eventually put out the fire,” he added.
He said investigations into the exact cause of the fire are ongoing.
Police also appealed to the public to plan for proper access roads when constructing buildings to enable emergency responders in case of such incidences.
