Police strike major drug, robbery hotspots, over 40 arrested
In a bold crackdown on crime, Kampala Metropolitan Police East conducted coordinated night operations on 30 March across Butabika, Kamwokya, and Bweyogerere.
Led by local Division Police Commanders with support from the UPDF and community leaders, the targeted raids focused on black spots notorious for drug-related activities and pedestrian robberies.

The operations resulted in 47 arrests and the recovery of large quantities of narcotics.
The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said all suspects are now in custody and face charges ranging from possession of narcotic substances to public nuisance, with prosecutions underway.
“Through intelligence-led policing, we are committed to disrupting criminal networks and ensuring the safety of our communities,” he said.
Kampala Police affirmed that such operations will continue to protect citizens and restore order across the metropolitan area.
