NEWS COMING IN : The political heat surrounding former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among intensified on Tuesday after joint security agencies sealed off her offices at Parliament as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

Security operatives cordoned off the Speaker’s wing and restricted access to several offices, including that of the Clerk to Parliament, turning the area into what investigators reportedly described as an active crime scene. Parliamentary staff were ordered to vacate the premises as forensic experts and detectives moved in carrying document files and electronic equipment.
The latest developments come amid widening investigations into allegations of illicit wealth accumulation, money laundering and possible breaches of Uganda’s Leadership Code laws. Reports indicate the probe was triggered by a formal petition submitted to the Inspectorate of Government (IGG), with President Yoweri Museveni said to have taken keen interest in the matter.
The dramatic raid follows a series of high-profile actions targeting properties and assets linked to Among. Earlier this week, police reportedly seized a luxury Rolls-Royce vehicle associated with the embattled politician during operations at her residence in Kigo, Wakiso District.
The investigations have sent shockwaves through Uganda’s political establishment, with many observers describing the unfolding events as one of the most serious anti-corruption crackdowns involving a top government official in recent years.
The pressure on Among has also coincided with her withdrawal from the race for Speaker of the 12th Parliament, a move many political analysts say reflects growing turbulence within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Neither the IGG nor police had officially commented on the specifics of the searches by Tuesday evening, citing ongoing investigations. However, the heavy deployment at Parliament signaled that authorities are pursuing what could become a major political and legal showdown.
