Emirates College Wakiso has celebrated another major academic milestone after its student, Ibrahim Issa Kayiira, emerged as the best overall candidate in the 2025 Idaad O-Level Theology National Examination.

The achievement was officially announced on June 14, 2026, during the college’s Idaad Thanksgiving Duwa held at the school premises. The event attracted parents, students, Islamic scholars, and other distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate the outstanding performance of the candidates.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of Studies for Theology, Sheikh Abubakar Lukyamuzi, revealed that 96 former Idaad candidates who graduated on November 29, 2025, sat the national examinations administered by the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Kampala Campus.

According to Lukyamuzi, 61 candidates passed in Grade One, 13 in Grade Two, 13 in Grade Three, and seven in Grade Four. All the successful candidates qualified for certificates of merit from IUIU and are eligible to proceed to Thanawi (Higher Secondary Certificate level), which provides a pathway to degree studies in Islamic disciplines at the university.

Ibrahim Issa Kayiira topped the national rankings with an impressive score of 98.2 percent. He was followed by Kalule Abubakar, Mirembe Mariam Abdullah, Suhayirah Janalilah Mutibwa, and Hawa Abdullah Nadia.

Lukyamuzi congratulated the students on their exceptional performance and urged them to remain steadfast in their faith while putting into practice the knowledge and values acquired during their studies.

The Headmistress of Emirates College, Mariam Nakiyingi, said the institution had been ranked among the top-performing schools nationally by the IUIU management, which oversees the examinations. She noted that the college remains committed to ensuring excellence in both theological and secular education to prepare students for meaningful service to their country.

Nakiyingi further revealed that the school is steadily transitioning into a science-oriented institution in line with emerging global education trends. She disclosed that out of the 105 candidates expected to sit for the 2026 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, 75 are pursuing science combinations.

She thanked parents and guardians for their continued trust in the institution, describing Emirates College as a center of excellence capable of providing a holistic education that nurtures both academic achievement and moral values.

Representing the parents, Ramathan Muwonge and Hajjat Malukiya Hawula commended the school’s management for delivering quality education and fostering discipline among learners.

They noted that improvements in student discipline, security, and teachers’ welfare are clear indicators of the institution’s steady growth and commitment to academic excellence.
