Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested three more suspects in connection with the robbery of more than Shs45 million from officials of Riverside Forex Bureau, marking a significant breakthrough in investigations into the daring daylight attack that occurred in Nsambya last month.
The robbery happened on May 6, 2026, when officials from Riverside Forex Bureau travelled from Bunga Trading Centre carrying USD 13,000 intended for exchange into Uganda shillings at a forex bureau along Kampala Road.
After completing the transaction, the victims were ambushed in Nsambya by a gang of assailants riding six motorcycles, who attacked them and fled with Shs45,184,600.
Police investigations initially led to the arrest of Yudah Kamoga, also known as “Sparta,” and boda boda rider Arnold Kayabula on June 12.
During the operation, detectives recovered a motorcycle bearing registration number UMA 602KK, which investigators believe was used during the robbery.
As investigations intensified, detectives tracked down and arrested three additional suspects identified as Farouk Atusasiirwe, alias “Gaza,” a resident of Nansana; Ibra Ssemakula, alias “Bugalo Mwenda,” from Bulenga; and Alex Matovu of Kazo in Kawempe.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal gang who remain at large.
The five suspects are currently in custody as investigators continue gathering evidence to strengthen the case.
