A major police operation targeting motorcycle robbery syndicates in the Kampala Metropolitan Area has led to the recovery of 44 motorcycles and the arrest of 13 suspects in Wakiso District.
The intelligence-led raid was carried out on the evening of June 17, 2026, at Nakati Garage and Washing Bay in Nakati Zone, Nabbingo Ward, Kyengera Town Council.
Racheal Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, reported that the operation was launched following credible information linking the premises to a sophisticated network allegedly involved in handling stolen motorcycles.
Investigators suspect the facility was being used to dismantle stolen motorcycles, alter their identities through rebranding and forged registration plates, and return them to circulation in an apparent effort to conceal their origins and evade detection.
Acting on the tip-off, officers moved in and searched the premises, uncovering dozens of motorcycles alongside a large cache of motorcycle parts and components believed to be connected to the suspected criminal enterprise.

Kawala, said several of the recovered motorcycles have already been identified through their registration details, raising hopes that some of the stolen property can be reunited with its rightful owners.
The 13 suspects arrested during the operation remain in custody as detectives intensify investigations into the suspected theft and trafficking network.
Authorities are also pursuing the proprietor of the garage, who remains at large.
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have lost motorcycles to report to the nearest police station or Kampala Metropolitan South Police headquarters for verification and possible recovery of their property.
The latest crackdown underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle organized motorcycle theft rings that have become a growing concern for riders and owners across the greater Kampala region.
