The Rotary Club of Kampala East is celebrating a historic milestone following the election of Rotarian Kaziro Kyambadde as the first-ever District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) from the club for Rotary District 9213. He is expected to assume office as District Governor in 2028.
The club, one of Uganda’s oldest and most distinguished Rotary clubs, has built a strong reputation over its 38-year history for implementing impactful community projects that improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Speaking during a homecoming reception held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Hotel Africana, where the club holds its weekly fellowship meetings, Club President Rotarian Rodney Twagarukaho described Kyambadde’s election as a landmark achievement.
He said the club had worked tirelessly over the years to produce a District Governor and congratulated Kyambadde for emerging as a visionary leader capable of advancing both the club’s and Rotary’s strategic development agenda.
In his remarks, Kyambadde thanked Rotarians and other stakeholders for the confidence they had placed in him through the nomination and election process.
He pledged to strengthen partnerships, build lasting networks, and promote initiatives that will contribute to the continued growth and impact of Rotary.
Rotary District 9213 Governor Geoffrey Kitakule commended Kyambadde for his dedication and commitment to serving humanity. He encouraged more Rotarians to seek leadership positions, emphasizing that Rotary’s mission is rooted in selfless service to vulnerable communities.
Kitakule pledged his full support to Kyambadde throughout his leadership journey and urged fellow Rotarians to guide and mentor him as he prepares for the responsibilities ahead.
He noted that Kyambadde’s progression from Interactor to Rotaractor and eventually to Rotarian and District Governor Nominee Designate reflects years of commitment to Rotary’s ideals of service above self.
Past District Governor Mike Sebalu also applauded the Rotary Club of Kampala East for consistently implementing impactful projects that benefit both local and distant communities.
He described Kyambadde’s rise through the ranks as well deserved, noting that his leadership journey from humble beginnings to one of Rotary’s highest offices is an inspiration to many. Sebalu pledged to offer both technical guidance and practical support as Kyambadde prepares for his future role.
The colourful reception attracted representatives from 47 Rotary clubs across the country and concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, symbolising the club’s renewed commitment to serving humanity and celebrating a new chapter in its history.
