The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) has been officially registered by the National Council of Sports (NCS), according to a statement issued by PAU Public Relations Director, George Katongole.
In the statement, Katongole said the NCS Board had approved PAU’s registration after reviewing its application under Uganda’s new sports legal framework.
“The NCS Board approved the official registration of PAU and issued a Certificate of Registration,” he noted.
The certificate is valid for 12 months and is subject to annual renewal, depending on the association’s continued compliance with national sports laws and NCS directives.
Katongole also said the NCS had upheld the recent PAU Executive Committee elections, which were conducted with delegates from districts across Uganda.
However, the position of Technical Director remains unresolved.
According to the statement, the position held by Muhammad Wasswa Kayiiya was challenged by Paul Wasike, who questioned his eligibility for the role.
Katongole said the NCS verification process identified inconsistencies and insufficient evidence concerning the qualifications submitted for the position.
The statement also referred to allegations of forged or fraudulent documents and breaches of the PAU constitution.
“The office will be regularized in accordance with NCS guidelines and legal standards,” Katongole said.
The NCS has recommended formal investigations into the allegations, according to the PAU statement.
Katongole said PAU accepts the NCS decisions and recommendations and remains committed to transparency, good governance and compliance with Uganda’s sports laws.
He said further guidance on the outstanding administrative issues, including the Technical Director position, would be communicated to PAU members and delegates in due course.
