The Rotary Club of Kampala Muyenga Breeze (KMB) has installed its 14th president while celebrating the successful implementation of 24 community service projects that have positively impacted lives across different communities.

The colourful presidential installation dinner attracted more than 300 guests who witnessed the official handover of leadership from outgoing President Rotarian Rogers Mukalazi to incoming President Rotarian Wanume Garvin Joshua.

In his farewell remarks, Mukalazi, accompanied by members of his executive committee, thanked club members, partners and sponsors for their unwavering technical, financial and logistical support, which enabled the club to successfully implement all 24 planned community service projects during his tenure.

“Our achievements have been possible because of teamwork and the commitment of our members and partners to serving humanity,” Mukalazi said.

In his acceptance speech, Wanume Garvin Joshua thanked members for entrusting him with the leadership of the club. He pledged to build on the ongoing projects while seeking guidance from past leaders to ensure continued growth and impact.

Wanume revealed that his passion for Rotary began while he was still in secondary school after interacting with a female Rotarian whom he accompanied to fellowship meetings. He said he was inspired by the discussions on community service and humanitarian work.

He officially joined Rotary in 2016 and has remained committed to the movement because of its dedication to transforming communities through service.

The new president also commended the club’s past presidents for laying a strong foundation and steering the Rotary Club of Kampala Muyenga Breeze towards achieving its strategic development goals.

The 2026 Rotary year is guided by the theme: “Do Things That Will Build a Legacy and Leave a Mark.”

The Woman Member of Parliament for Rukiga District, Hon. Dr. Sylvia Tumuheirwe Alinaitwe, who officiated as the chief guest, congratulated both the outgoing and incoming presidents. She applauded Rotary’s commitment to mobilising resources for community development and economic empowerment programmes aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable people.

Dr. Tumuheirwe, a financial policy expert and a major supporter of Rotary’s global initiatives, pledged to continue offering technical support to the new leadership to strengthen the club’s service to humanity.

The newly elected board includes Kevin Mugabi (Vice President), Judith Nambasi (Secretary), Arnold Kabale (Treasurer), Justine Muduli (Club Administrator), and Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Emmanuel Onouba as Sergeant-at-Arms, among other officials.

The ceremony attracted representatives from more than 32 Rotary clubs across Uganda.

Club leaders also commended the neighbouring Rotary Club of Kiwafu Breeze Muyenga, led by President Erastus Nsubuga Njuki, for partnering with them during a recent sickle cell anaemia medical camp that benefited many members of the community.

Several senior Rotary leaders delivered presentations outlining the responsibilities and expectations of Rotarians. They challenged members to remain faithful, transparent and committed to Rotary’s mission of promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education, reducing poverty and improving livelihoods worldwide.

Sponsors of the event included Java House, Marina Sports, Europet Ltd, Cure Children’s Hospital Mbale, Masanyu Suites, MedLink Lab and Surgicals, Four Ways Shipping Services Group Ltd, Asel Engineering Consults Ltd, Firante Gorilla Treks, J4J, Transtrac, and Ronnie and Ivan Styles, among others.
