The Uganda Police Force has reminded the public that the National Cleaning Day will be observed on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with traffic movement restricted across the country to allow citizens to participate in the nationwide sanitation exercise.

According to a police press statement, the National Cleaning Day is part of the Government of Uganda’s efforts to promote a cleaner environment, improve public health, and prevent diseases associated with poor sanitation.

Police spokesperson ACP Rusoke M. Kituuma urged all Ugandans to support the initiative by actively participating in the cleaning exercise.

“We urge all citizens, motorists, traders, institutions, and community leaders to fully comply with the directive and actively participate in the National Cleaning Day exercise. This is a collective effort aimed at improving sanitation, protecting public health, and creating a cleaner environment for all,” Kituuma said.

Police said that during the three-hour exercise, all vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and vessels will be prohibited from operating on roads and water bodies, except in emergency situations. Traffic movement will therefore be restricted nationwide between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Members of the public have been encouraged to remain within their communities, participate in the cleaning activities, and resume their normal routines after 10:00 a.m.

Persons travelling for scheduled medical treatment have been advised to carry the relevant medical documentation, while medical personnel should carry their identification documents.

The Uganda Police Force has called on the public to cooperate with security personnel and local authorities to ensure that the National Cleaning Day exercise is conducted safely and successfully.
