KABALE, Uganda – Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into an aggravated robbery in which a private security guard was assaulted and robbed of his company-issued firearm at a fuel station in Kabale Municipality.
The incident occurred on the night of August 2, 2026, at Harvest Fuel Station in Nyakijumba, according to the Kigezi Regional Police.
The victim has been identified as Ensinikweri Everest, 53, a security guard attached to CRUMARK Private Security Company.
Police said the guard was attacked by unknown assailants who struck him on the head with a heavy stick, leaving him unconscious before making off with his company rifle and one round of live ammunition.
The attackers fled the scene, and the stolen firearm had not been recovered by the time of filing this report.
Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said detectives from Kabale Central Police Station have commenced investigations to establish the identities of the suspects and recover the stolen weapon.
Police have appealed to members of the public with any information that could assist investigations to report to the nearest police station so that the suspects can be arrested and prosecuted.
Following the incident, police also urged private security companies to strengthen safety measures for their personnel, warning against deploying guards to high-risk locations alone.
Police advised private security firms to conduct proper security risk assessments before deployment and ensure guards are equipped with essential safety items such as whistles, torches and communication radios.
