Police in Kasangati are investigating the death of a 34-year-old woman who reportedly died shortly after giving birth through a surgical operation at People’s Hospital in Gayaza, Wakiso District.
The deceased, Judith Twinomugisha, a resident of Namulonge in Busukuma Sub-County, Nansana Municipality, reportedly went to the hospital on August 18, 2026, to deliver her baby.
According to police, Twinomugisha delivered a baby boy through a Caesarean section on the afternoon of August 19, but shortly afterwards developed complications and was rushed back to the theatre at about 7:00pm, where she was later pronounced dead. “The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the city mortuary for a post-mortem examination to establish the actual cause of death,” a police source said.
Police have since opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, including what may have caused the complications following the delivery.
The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further information on the cause of death as investigators continue with inquiries into the incident.
