Three injured in Nakasongola crash after truck rams into another

Three people have been seriously injured after a heavy-duty truck rammed into another truck on the Kampala-Gulu highway in Nakasongola District.
The crash happened at about 04:50 on Thursday morning at Kitangala Junction in Kakooge Town Council, as the two vehicles were travelling towards Kampala from Gulu.
Police said the collision involved an Isuzu truck, registration number UP 00040, and a Sino truck, registered UBP 290H/UAY 523X. Preliminary findings indicate that the Isuzu truck struck the Sino truck from behind as the vehicles approached the junction.
The Police spokesperson for Savannah Region, Sam Twineamazima, said the three occupants of the Isuzu truck were seriously injured in the collision. “The injured were promptly conveyed to Nakasongola Health Centre V and St. Franciscan Hospital for treatment,” he said.
Those injured include the driver, AIP Olema Charles, and two passengers, Natumanya Azaria and Ainebyona Brevia. All three are adults.
Police officers who received the report responded to the scene, where they documented the crash, drew a rough sketch plan, took photographs and recorded statements from relevant parties.
The two vehicles were towed from the scene and are currently being held at Katuugo as investigations continue.
Traffic Police in Nakasongola say they are conducting a full investigation to establish the exact circumstances and cause of the crash, with further inquiries still under way.
