Ugandan gospel musician Vere Paul is celebrating a successful European tour, where he combined vacation, sightseeing and gospel ministry while visiting some of his dream destinations.
Last month, the Elo Him singer travelled from Kampala to Europe, touring a number of historical and cultural sites in Italy, France and Switzerland. He said his main goals were to enjoy his vacation, explore the historic destinations and share his gospel music, all of which he achieved.
Speaking after returning to Uganda, Vere Paul said he was warmly welcomed despite having to adjust to the different climatic conditions. He first arrived in Rome, Italy, before travelling to Turin, where he spent a week.
From Italy, the musician travelled to Paris, France, where he also spent a week exploring some of the city’s famous landmarks. He later travelled by train to Zurich, Switzerland, where he visited attractions including Lake Zurich and the Lindt Home of Chocolate factory.
Vere Paul said his time in Italy gave him an opportunity to learn more about the country’s rich history and architecture.
While in Turin, he visited the city centre and learned about its Roman history. He explained that Turin was founded as Augusta Taurinorum during the Roman era and later became the capital of Italy under the House of Savoy before the capital was moved to Florence and eventually Rome.
He also visited Solferino Square and several other historical sites.
“I went to Finale Ligure and then to Lake Avigliana, a natural lake with a light bridge and a path leading to the park. I enjoyed the scenery because I could see the Church of Saint Mary and, farther away, the ruins of a castle and Saint Michael’s Church, which was built in the 1200s,” he said.
He added that he also visited Valentino Castle and its surrounding park, located near the Po River, Italy’s longest river. He further explored the Canoa Club, which dates back to the second half of the 19th century, and Zoom Torino, a popular wildlife park.
In Paris, Vere Paul visited some of the city’s iconic attractions, including Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Parc des Princes, home of French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The musician said the European trip was not only about sightseeing but also offered him an opportunity to reflect on his music journey and the message he shares through gospel music.
Vere Paul has released several inspirational and gospel songs, including Sijja Kusirika, Elo Him, Vumilia, Cross Roads, Bado Kidogo, and Me and You Forever. The video for Me and You Forever was shot in the Maldives during his honeymoon.
With his music taking him to different parts of the world, Vere Paul says the European tour has added another memorable chapter to his growing musical journey.
