NABWERU, Wakiso (UGNEWSLINE) – Police in Nabweru have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of being behind a series of house and shop break-ins in Nabweru South, Nansana Division, Wakiso District.
The suspect was arrested following investigations into a house-breaking incident reported on 3 October, in which mobile phones, a television and other household property valued at about Shs700,000 were stolen, along with Shs300,000 in cash.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said police recovered several items from the suspect’s residence, including a mobile phone, television, extension cable and a bag belonging to the complainant.
Other property believed to have been stolen from different victims was also recovered.
Among the recovered items were mattresses, bags containing women’s clothing and SIM cards suspected to have been removed from stolen mobile phones.
Police said the suspect is also being linked to several other cases of shop breaking and theft previously reported at Nabweru Police Station.
He is further being investigated in connection with a separate case involving an alleged escape from lawful custody.
Police said investigations are continuing under Nabweru Police Station, after which the suspect will be taken to court once inquiries are complete.
