KAMPALA (UGNEWSLINE) – The broken side mirror left behind at the scene could prove crucial as police hunt the driver of a Toyota Harrier accused of knocking down and critically injuring a 58-year-old woman at Kampala’s Clock Tower flyover interchange.
The incident happened at about 4:45pm on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, as the cream-coloured Toyota Harrier, registration number UAS 155R, was travelling from the Kibuli-Nsambya direction towards Kampala city centre.

According to preliminary accounts, the vehicle hit Tracy Nalumu as it approached the start of the flyover, opposite the TotalEnergies petrol station.
The vehicle reportedly did not stop after the crash, prompting Uganda Traffic Police to launch a hunt for the driver and circulate details of the vehicle in an effort to have it intercepted.
Nalumu, who reportedly said she is a hawker, was travelling from Bwaise towards Kibuli, where she is said to reside, when she was struck.
Two traffic police officers arrived at the scene, recorded her details and contacted an emergency vehicle to evacuate her to Mulago National Referral Hospital for treatment.
Boda boda riders and other onlookers at the scene also recovered a side mirror believed to have come from the Toyota Harrier.
The recovered part was handed over to police and is expected to assist investigators in identifying and tracing the vehicle.
Police have urged motorists and members of the public with information that could help locate the driver or the vehicle to come forward as investigations continue.
