KAMPALA Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Six authors affiliated with Victoria University have launched their books during the university’s 10th graduation ceremony held between October 19 and 20th, 2026.

The joint book launch was one of the activities held alongside the graduation celebrations, with the authors presenting copies of their publications to the university’s Chancellor, Prof. John Opuda-Asibo, in recognition of their contributions to knowledge and intellectual development.

The books explore a range of subjects, including artificial intelligence, leadership, environmental sustainability, personal development and professional success.

Prof. Opuda-Asibo congratulated the authors for investing their time, commitment and expertise in writing books that share knowledge and experiences with the public.

He described book writing as a means of empowering people by providing critical knowledge that can help address societal challenges, including poverty and illiteracy, while promoting economic empowerment and development.

The authors included Victoria University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the university’s Marketing Manager, Canon D. Busingye, Prof. Augustine Ifelebuegu, Linda Musiime Rosette and Andrew Ssaazi, among others.

Dr. Muganga launched his book titled Wake Up or Be Left Behind, while Canon D. Busingye, in collaboration with Dr. Muganga, presented Managing Your Boss: The Power of Upward Leadership, subtitled The Unspoken Skill That Actually Runs the World.

Prof. Ifelebuegu presented Carbonomics: The New Economics of a Decarbonising World. Linda Musiime Rosette launched It’s Not Over, There Is Still More Ahead of You, while Ssaazi presented Self Coach: Daily Insights to Accelerate Your Professional Success.

Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Leadership

In Wake Up or Be Left Behind, Dr. Muganga explores the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) and the responsibility that comes with its development and use.

The book presents AI as a powerful technology whose impact on humanity will depend largely on the choices made by the people developing and using it.

Muganga argues that AI could become either humanity’s greatest gift or its greatest threat, depending on how it is guided and managed.

About Dr. Lawrence Muganga

Dr. Muganga is the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University and a member of Uganda’s National AI Taskforce. He is widely known for his work in promoting artificial intelligence and transforming education.

He holds a PhD from the University of Alberta in Canada and a Harvard teaching credential. He has addressed audiences across Africa, North America, Europe and Asia.

His other books include You Can’t Make Fish Climb Trees and Authentic University, which explore learning, ambition, education and human potential.

Through his writing, Muganga seeks to explain complex global developments in simple language that leaders, educators, parents and the wider public can understand.

Managing workplace relationships

The book Managing Your Boss: The Power of Upward Leadership, co-authored by Canon D. Busingye and Dr. Muganga, provides practical guidance for professionals seeking to navigate workplace hierarchies and build productive relationships with their supervisors.

The book presents 100 actionable principles designed to help employees develop mutually beneficial relationships with their bosses while maintaining professional integrity.

Rather than promoting workplace manipulation or the practice of pleasing superiors for personal gain, the authors emphasise authenticity, transparency, influence and the value employees contribute to their organisations.

About Canon D. Busingye

Busingye is an education leader, journalist and Marketing and Recruitment Manager at Victoria University.

He previously served as press secretary to Uganda’s Vice-President and as an education editor at the state-owned New Vision newspaper. He was also a finalist in the 2016 CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards.

He founded KUT Nexus Ltd, an agency specialising in marketing and institutional management.

Drawing on more than two decades of experience in newsrooms, boardrooms and lecture halls, Busingye writes about leadership, professional relationships and institutional development.

About Prof. Augustine Ifelebuegu

Prof. Ifelebuegu is a Nigerian-born British academic and Professor of Energy, Safety and Environment. He also serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Victoria University.

He is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a Chartered Environmentalist.

His book, Carbonomics: The New Economics of a Decarbonising World, focuses on the economic dimensions of the transition towards a low-carbon world.

About Linda Musiime Rosette

Musiime Rosette is a public speaker, marketer and author who advocates for self-discovery and personal development.

Through her book, It’s Not Over, There Is Still More Ahead of You, she seeks to encourage readers to recognise their potential, overcome setbacks and continue pursuing their goals.

About Andrew Ssaazi

Ssaazi is a career author coach and bookpreneur who focuses on professional growth and development.

His book, Self Coach: Daily Insights to Accelerate Your Professional Success, explores ideas, strategies, skills and practical actions that individuals can use to improve their careers and achieve professional success.
