With excitement building and stakes rising, the road to IGP’s Cup glory officially entered the knockout stage on Monday (September, 1, 2025) as AIGP Hadijah Namutebi, Director of Welfare, Production and Sports, launched the quarterfinal draws of the tournament’s second edition.
The ceremony, held at Police Headquarters, brought together top officials and sports enthusiasts within the Force.
The draw proceedings were conducted in line with FUFA regulations and overseen by none other than FUFA’s Director of Competitions, Hajati Aisha Nalule.
Eight teams, each representing one of the Police Force’s regional blocks, are now set to lock horns in a thrilling series of quarterfinal clashes slated for September 16, 2025, at Wakisha Playground.
The winners will advance to the grand finale, which will be played on September 19, 2025, at the brand-new home of Police FC, located at Kira Road Police Grounds in Kamwokya.
The final won’t just crown a champion, it will also serve as the official unveiling of the Force’s state-of-the-art stadium, a milestone moment for Police sports.
Speaking at the event, Namutebi called on members of the Force and the wider community to rally behind their teams.
“This tournament is more than just a game, it’s a celebration of unity, discipline, and fitness,” she said. “We are using sport as a powerful tool to bring our people together and identify the talent that will carry our flag forward.”
Now in full swing since its kickoff in November 2024, the IGP’s Cup features both football and netball competitions.
