KAMPALA, Uganda : Bank of Africa-Uganda has taken part in the 3rd Edition of the CEO Business Conference 2026, held under the theme “Adapt and Advance.” The event convened chief executives, business owners, and senior decision-makers from key sectors such as construction, trade, and education. Participants exchanged insights on strategies for building resilient and competitive enterprises amid a rapidly evolving business environment.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for the bank to deepen its engagement with the SME ecosystem and strengthen its understanding of the dynamics shaping enterprise growth in Uganda. SMEs remain central to the economy, accounting for over 90% of private sector firms and contributing an estimated 20–25% to GDP, while sustaining millions of livelihoods nationwide.

Keynote speaker Andrew Obara, CEO of Friends Consult Ltd, emphasized the importance of adaptability in business and highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping competitiveness, productivity, and decision-making in the emerging economy.

Phillip Otim, Head of Marketing & Product Development at Bank of Africa-Uganda, represented the bank and reiterated these insights, underscoring the importance of embracing AI and adapting to technological change. He further noted that Bank of Africa-Uganda is also embracing AI as part of its ongoing transformation journey, positioning its internal capabilities in step with the broader shift shaping the future of business and banking.

Through its participation, Bank of Africa-Uganda reinforced its continued focus on SMEs as a core segment of the economy, with emphasis on practical, sector-relevant financial solutions tailored to the needs of contractors, traders, and institutions within education and other key sectors.

In line with the theme “Adapt and Advance,” the bank continues to position itself as a trusted financial partner to SMEs, committed to enabling business continuity, resilience, and sustainable growth across Uganda’s evolving enterprise landscape.
