WAKISO District (UGNEWSLINE) – Police in Wakiso District are investigating the fatal shooting of a 47-year-old businessman who was reportedly gunned down by unidentified assailants at the gate of his home in Manja Cell, Kyengera Town Council, on Saturday night.
“The incident occurred on 10 October 2026 at approximately 23:00 hours. The deceased, identified as Edirisa Ssekandi, was a businessman and resident of Manja Cell, Kyengera Town Council,” said Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Preliminary police information indicates that Ssekandi had left his workplace in Kiteemu Trading Centre at around 21:30 hours with his wife and son.
The family was travelling home in a Subaru Forester, registration number UA 401DN.
When they arrived at their gate in Manja Cell, unidentified men armed with a firearm reportedly attacked them and shot Ssekandi.
He died at the scene, according to the police account.
Police at Nsangi have launched an investigation into the killing and are working to identify and track down the suspects for arrest and prosecution.
Police have also appealed to members of the public with credible information that could help investigators establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting or identify those responsible to report to the nearest police station.
