The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government,Ben Kumumanya, has urged Secretaries to Service Commissions and Heads of Human Resources in Local Governments to maintain professionalism and integrity in the administration of public service. LG Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya addressing the meeting. He praised exemplary practices and gave the example of Masaka District, which made it plain in its employment advertisements that jobs are not for sale and that it is against the law to ask for money. He was addressing Local Government officials at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. In order to encourage openness and rebuild public trust in the hiring process, he instructed all local governments to implement this strategy in their next job advertisements. He emphasized that all public servants work in trust for the people of Uganda and cautioned against bribery and recruiting manipulation. Kumumanya emphasized that improved teamwork and enhanced abilities are essential to enhancing service delivery and promised the Ministry's full support to increase the capacity of human resource officers and service commissioners. He asked staff to uphold moral principles in all hiring decisions and restated the Ministry's zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
