The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, held a strategic meeting with Lt Col Ash Wiseman, the British Defence Attaché to Uganda, at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe on August 29, 2025.

The discussions focused on enhancing military cooperation between Uganda and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, both military leaders explored ways to deepen their longstanding partnership, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as training, capacity-building, and regional security collaboration.
Kainerugaba highlighted the rich history of cooperation between the UPDF and the UK Armed Forces, emphasizing the United Kingdom’s support in training and capacity development for Ugandan troops.
The two countries have also joined forces in various peace support operations and regional security initiatives aimed at promoting stability in East Africa.

“As a Sandhurst graduate, I appreciate the strong ties between our militaries and am committed to building on this relationship to address shared security challenges,” he said.
Lt Col Wiseman reaffirmed the UK’s continued commitment to working alongside the UPDF to foster regional peace and security.
The meeting underscores the ongoing efforts by both Uganda and the United Kingdom to strengthen military ties and promote collaboration on international security issues, enhancing the capacity of both forces to respond effectively to emerging threats.
