For many Ugandans, owning a home remains a cherished dream, one that often appears out of reach because of the high cost of land, construction and housing.

But for more than 25 clients who received keys to their new homes, that dream has become a reality.

The clients were handed keys to their apartments at Reportage Uganda’s new condominium development along Mawanda Road in Mulago, Kawempe Division, during a colourful ceremony attended by company officials and representatives of DFCU Bank.

The development is part of Reportage Uganda’s Divya Bhav 7 Hills Kololo project, with the company providing the housing units while DFCU supports potential homeowners with financing.

Speaking during the handover, DFCU Bank Home Loans Manager Murokpzi Sebastian said the partnership was aimed at making homeownership more accessible to Ugandans.

“It is exciting to be part of the Reportage handover, which is a significant reflection of the commitment and reliability of the developer in the real estate industry,” he said.

Sebastian said DFCU believes owning a home should move beyond being a dream and become a reality for more Ugandans.

“At dfcu, we believe that home ownership should move from a dream to a reality. Our role is not simply to provide financing, but to walk with our customers throughout their home ownership journey,” he said.

He explained that the bank’s home loan solutions can support customers at different stages, including buying land, purchasing a completed home, construction, renovation and unlocking value from an existing property.

The loans are available to employed and self-employed Ugandans as well as people earning incomes from the diaspora.

Sebastian encouraged Ugandans who aspire to own homes not to wait until they have accumulated the full amount needed.

“My message to Ugandans is simple: start the journey. You do not necessarily have to wait until you have all the money to own a home. Come and speak to us, understand your options, plan your finances, and let us help you move from collateral to keys,” he said.

For the new homeowners, the handover marked the end of waiting and the beginning of a new chapter.

Reportage Uganda Marketing Manager Francis Kasambeko said the partnership with DFCU was intended to give more people an opportunity to access the company’s housing units through affordable financing options.

Reportage Uganda has developed housing projects in areas including Entebbe, Naguru and Kololo, with the Mawanda Road development being its latest addition.

Kasambeko said the company, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has operations in several countries, including Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

He said Uganda’s investment potential and hospitable environment had attracted the company to expand its housing solutions in the country.

The apartments are designed to cater for different groups, including expatriates, employed Ugandans, members of the diaspora and business communities.

Kasambeko invited potential homeowners to explore the available units, which he said come with modern amenities including shopping facilities, ample parking, recreational areas and swimming pools.

Reportage Uganda Property Consultant Nakabuye Shamirah said the company had introduced a flexible payment schedule to accommodate different clients.

She said repayment can stretch for up to 40 months, with clients required to pay a booking fee of USD 1,500 before proceeding with the agreed payment plan.

Apartment prices start at about USD 150,000.

Some of the clients who attended the handover expressed appreciation to Reportage Uganda for providing the housing units and to DFCU Bank for supporting access to home loans.

For them, the new apartments represent more than bricks and concrete—they are a place to build families, create memories and finally call home.

DFCU Bank said it remains committed to supporting sustainable homeownership and contributing to the growth of Uganda’s housing and real estate sector.
