The late Prince Patrick Jolly Baguma Kandole Ateenyi was laid to rest today at his ancestral home in Katasiha, Hoima City, in a solemn ceremony attended by thousands, including political leaders, clergy, business figures, and local residents.
Prince Baguma, a respected and principled leader, served in various senior roles within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), including as National Party Vice Chairman (2009–2015) and Deputy President in charge of the Western Region (2015–2018).

He also stood as the FDC Parliamentary candidate for Hoima Municipality in the 2011 and 2016 general elections.
His enduring legacy is marked by integrity, dedication to service, and a deep respect for all. The large turnout for his send-off reflected the wide admiration he earned across political and community lines.
The Requiem Mass, held at his home, was led by Rev. Canon Capt. Twine Edward of St. Peter’s Cathedral-Duhaga, and was graced by high-ranking clergy, including retired Bishops Rt. Rev. Nathan Kyamanywa and Rt. Rev. Samuel Kahuma of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, and retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali.
Joab Businge Amooti, FDC’s Deputy President for Western Uganda, led the party in paying tribute to the late Baguma. In his eulogy, he hailed Baguma as “a pillar of honesty and service who shaped the party’s grassroots strength in the region.”

Other senior FDC leaders in attendance included: Robert Centenary Bwambale the National Vice Chairman, Western Region; Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda Amooti the FDC Chief Electoral Commissioner; John Kikonyogo, the party spokesperson; Walid Mulindwa Lubega the Deputy Publicity Secretary, Kabasiita Adyeeri the Vice Chairperson, Women’s League (Western Region); and other various local and regional grassroots leaders from Bunyoro Subregion.
As mourners bid farewell to a devoted public servant and beloved community figure, the FDC and the people of Bunyoro reflected on a life lived with purpose and honor.
May Prince Baguma’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family and community find strength in his legacy.
