Police in Kabalagala have arrested Ssetuba Derrick over allegations of fraud, following complaints that he swindled at least UGX 8 million from a victim under false pretenses.

The suspect is accused of defrauding Namara Omuhereza, prompting a criminal investigation. Contrary to widespread speculation on social media claiming Ssetuba had been abducted, authorities confirmed that his arrest was conducted lawfully and he is currently being held at Kabalagala Police Station.
In a statement released by Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, two more individuals have come forward since the arrest, claiming to have also fallen victim to similar schemes allegedly run by Ssetuba.
“The allegations are being actively investigated, and the case file will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for review and guidance,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.
Police have urged anyone else who may have been defrauded by the suspect to report to the nearest station as investigations continue.
