KAMPALA, Uganda : Police in Nsangi and Kyengera have recovered an illegal firearm and arrested a 26-year-old man following a targeted operation.
The suspect, identified as Vincent Kimbugwe, also known as Kasumali, was apprehended after officers acted on a tip-off.
A search of his home in Massanda Cell, Kyengera Town Council, led to the discovery of an AK-47 rifle.
According to police, the weapon appeared rusted and its serial number was not clearly visible. It has since been sent to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination.
Kimbugwe remains in custody as investigations continue.
Police have praised local authorities and residents for their cooperation, noting that community vigilance played a key role in the operation.
