MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited (MTN MoMo) in partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and local market and transport leadership, today launched a major urban transformation initiative that will see the rebranding, cleaning, and revitalisation of Busega Market and five of Kampala’s busiest transport parks.
The initiative commenced with an early morning clean-up exercise at Busega, bringing together MTN MoMo staff, KCCA officials, market leaders, traders, drivers, conductors, and community members. The clean-up was followed by an official handover and launch ceremony marking the beginning of a broader transformation programme aimed at improving the functionality, appearance, and overall experience within these important commercial and transport hubs.
The partnership extends beyond Busega Market to include Busega Park, Kisenyi Park, Kalerwe Park, Namayiba Park, and Natete Park which are locations that represent the heartbeat of Kampala’s daily economic activity. Every day, thousands of Ugandans pass through these spaces to trade, travel, earn a living, and access essential services. By investing in their improvement, MTN MoMo and KCCA are helping to create environments that better support productivity, safety, cleanliness, and economic growth.
This initiative reflects MTN MoMo’s commitment to long-term community impact. Through sustained investment in public spaces, MTN MoMo is partnering with city authorities and local leadership to deliver visible improvements that traders, transport operators, and commuters can experience every day.
Speaking during the launch, Carolyn Nabunya, MTN MoMo’s Senior Manager, Commercial Operations, said the initiative reflects MTN MoMo’s belief that thriving businesses require thriving environments.
“At MTN MoMo, we understand that markets and transport hubs are the engines of Uganda’s economy. They are where businesses grow, livelihoods are built, and communities connect. Our partnership with KCCA is about creating cleaner, safer, and more organised spaces that empower traders, transport operators, and customers alike. As we continue to provide reliable and accessible financial services, we are equally committed to supporting the physical environments where commerce happens every day.”
