KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) has recognised 16 agents and 10 units for their contribution to customer retention, investment mobilisation and financial literacy during the first half of 2026, at an awards ceremony held at Hotel Africana.
The Agents Incentive Awards celebrated performance between January and June 2026, highlighting the role of the agency network in attracting new investors, strengthening customer relationships and encouraging clients to remain committed to their financial goals.
Edmund Tumwesiga emerged as the top performer in customer retention, retaining customer investments worth UGX 12.36 billion. Daniel Gatsinzi was named second runner-up, having retained UGX 8.5 billion. Both agents received overseas trips in recognition of their achievements.
The awards came as Uganda’s unit trust market continued to expand, with OMIG maintaining a leading position in the sector.
Presenting the company’s business update for the first two quarters of 2026, Daniel Opiyo, Head of Marketing and Business Development at OMIG, said the company’s unit trust assets under management stood at UGX 4.14 trillion at the end of June, representing 58.5 per cent of the market.
He revealed that the assets grew by UGX 306.1 billion between March and June, an increase of approximately eight per cent.
Over the same period, industry-wide unit trust assets rose from UGX 6.26 trillion to UGX 7.08 trillion, underscoring the sector’s continued growth.
Against this backdrop, the awards highlighted the contribution of agents in translating market growth into lasting customer relationships by helping investors understand available products, make informed decisions and maintain their investments.
Opiyo said the recognition reflected the sustained effort required not only to attract investors but also to support them throughout their investment journey.
“For many people, the decision to start investing begins with a conversation with an agent. Our responsibility is to make that conversation useful:understand what the customer wants to achieve, explain the options clearly and help them make an informed choice. Financial literacy is part of that everyday work, and following up after a customer joins is just as important as bringing them on board,” Opiyo said.
The business update also outlined OMIG’s continued focus on customer retention and quarterly training for agents in product knowledge and skills development.
Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group Zac Kisesi said agents remain a critical link between the business and its customers, helping turn interest in investing into long-term relationships built on trust.
“Our agents contribute directly to the growth of our business by bringing in new clients and helping existing customers stay engaged with their investments.
He says contribution is built on trust.
‘Every clear explanation, every question answered and every follow-up helps strengthen a customer’s confidence in us’, said Kisesi
According to Kisesi the awards recognise the agents whose dedication continues to earn that trust and support our growth.
Certificates were presented across four categories: Agents with the Most Clients per Month; Top 10 Units in Net Client Cash Flow (NCCF); Best Agents in NCCF Monthly; and Best Agents in NCCF Overall for January–June 2026.
