Police Investigate death of Kyambogo University student found in hostel

Police and Kyambogo University authorities are investigating the death of a female student whose body was found in her hostel room in Banda, Kampala.
The deceased has been identified as Precious Musimenta, a Bachelor’s degree student of Accounting and Finance attached to North Hall at Kyambogo University.
According to a September 28, 2026 communication from the university’s Office of the Dean of Students, Musimenta was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda on Monday.
The university said her body was taken to City Mortuary for further examination, with a postmortem expected to establish the cause of death.
Dr Agnes Nakimuli Mugalu, the university’s Dean of Students, confirmed the incident but said details surrounding Musimenta’s death were still being established.
At the time of the university’s communication, the cause of death had not been established, and no further details had been released about the circumstances under which she was found.
The university’s Student Welfare Department has since contacted Musimenta’s family as arrangements for her burial begin.
Police and university authorities are continuing investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
