RUBANDA – Police in Rubanda District have launched investigations into the murder of an unidentified woman whose decomposing body was discovered in an unfinished house in Bubaare Town Council.
According to Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the body was found on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Rwenkurijo Cell, Muyanje Ward, Bubaare Town Council, Rubanda District.
A team of detectives and Scene of Crime officers responded to the scene after receiving the report and found the body lying in an advanced state of decomposition inside the unfinished building.
The deceased is described as a woman believed to be in her late twenties. She was dressed in a multi-coloured Kitenge fabric dominated by green, with black and yellow patterns.
The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death continue.
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have a missing relative or friend matching the deceased’s description to report to the nearest police station or visit the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary to assist with identification.
Authorities have also called on anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or aid the ongoing investigation to report to the nearest police station.
Police further cautioned the public against interfering with crime scenes, warning that tampering with evidence could hinder investigations.
Investigations into the murder are ongoing.
