A wave of coordinated police operations has swept through Kampala Metropolitan Area, leaving multiple suspects in custody as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore public safety across the city.
Kampala Metropolitan Police carried out disruptive operations in several divisions including Kabalagala, Kira, Old Kampala, and Wandegeya, targeting areas identified as crime hotspots linked to robberies, narcotics trafficking, and possession of suspected stolen property. According to the area deputy spokespeson, Luke Owoyesigyire the operations resulted in multiple arrests as officers moved through known hideouts and black spots.

In Kabalagala, the operations coincided with a tragic incident in Kisasizi Zone, Kibuli Parish, where a 36-year-old mason, Olowo Dominic, died after being fatally electrocuted.
Preliminary investigations indicate he may have come into contact with a clothes-hanging wire that had become energized.
His body was taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination, while investigations continue to determine the source of the electric current.
Elsewhere in the same division, security teams moved through Bukasa, Nsambya West, and Buyondo Zone, where several individuals suspected of attacking motorists and engaging in other violent crimes were arrested.
Police say the suspects are now facing charges and are expected to appear in court.
In Kira Division, a targeted operation in Kyaliwajjala Zone, Namugongo Division led to the arrest of eleven suspects believed to be behind a series of robberies in the area.
Officers recovered a range of exhibits during the crackdown, including suspected stolen items, narcotics, and weapons such as knives and a pick axe, alongside household property believed to have been taken during break-ins.
Old Kampala Division also saw intensified enforcement as police raided Nakulabye and Kasubi, where eight suspects were picked up from narcotics distribution points and criminal hideouts long under surveillance.
Meanwhile, in Wandegeya Division, officers moved through Kikoni, Kapapali, and Old Mulago, arresting fifteen suspects allegedly involved in shop break-ins and unlawful nighttime gatherings around bars, activities authorities say have contributed to rising insecurity in the area.
Owoyesigyire said all suspects are undergoing screening and investigation as legal processes continue.
