Police in Rukungiri District have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a 51-year-old man following an incident that occurred in Nyarushanje Sub-county.
The deceased, identified as Richard Tumuheki, was allegedly killed during the early hours of Monday at Kimbugu Village, Nyabushenyi Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county in Rukungiri District.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that Tumuheki had been drinking at a local drinking point together with the suspects before the group dispersed. Shortly afterwards, he was discovered lying in a pool of blood.
The suspects currently in police custody are:
Kamigisha Cleophas, 30
Kabagambe Allan, 20
Kyampire Sophia, 35
All three are residents of the same area where the incident occurred.
A homicide team from Rukungiri Police Station responded to the scene, where officers processed and documented evidence as investigations commenced.
The body of the deceased was later transported to Rwakabengo Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
