Security agencies have successfully recovered six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, in Kawempe Division, Kampala.
The child was rescued on December 19, 2025, at about 9:30am from Busukuma in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, following a coordinated security operation. Authorities say the suspect in the case is a shamba boy who had been employed by the child’s father.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred at around 4:00pm on December 12 in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division.
TRachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, said the suspect, identified as David Muchunguzi, reportedly left home with the child, Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, son of Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel, and failed to return.
A case of kidnapping was immediately reported at Universal Police Post, prompting security agencies to launch search operations. Investigators later traced the suspect through analysis of his TikTok videos, which led to the successful recovery of the child.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect. Meanwhile, the child is expected to be handed over to his parents after undergoing a medical examination.
Police have indicated that more details will be communicated in due course.
