Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery of more than Shs45 million from officials of Riverside Forex Bureau, marking a major breakthrough in investigations into the high-profile incident.
The robbery occurred on May 6, 2026, after the manager of the forex bureau and a colleague left Bunga Trading Centre carrying USD 13,000 intended for currency exchange. The pair reportedly exchanged the money into Uganda shillings at a forex bureau along Kampala Road before being ambushed by assailants riding motorcycles in Nsambya. The attackers made off with Shs45,184,600.
According to police, investigators traced a motorcycle believed to have been used during the robbery and discovered that it bore a forged registration plate, allegedly intended to conceal its true identity.
The breakthrough led detectives to further evidence linking suspects to the crime.
On June 12, 2026, police arrested Yudah Kamoga, also known as “Sparta,” and Arnold Kayabula, a boda boda rider, over their suspected involvement in the robbery.
Investigators also recovered a motorcycle bearing registration number UMA 602KK, which is believed to be connected to the case.
The suspects are currently in police custody as detectives continue to establish the extent of their involvement and pursue other individuals believed to have participated in the robbery.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that all those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted as investigations continue.
