KAMPALA, Uganda — NCBA Bank Uganda has officially flagged off three golfers set to represent the country at the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi. The team Gabriel Amani Beau, James Abiria, and Irene Sekabembe departed aboard Kenya Airways to join top finalists from Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda for the regional showdown.
Their qualification marks the climax of an exciting local tour that began in June at Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Kitante and wrapped up earlier this month at Entebbe Golf Club.
The 2025 NCBA Golf Series teed off at UGC Kitante, where Gabriel Amani Beau outplayed more than 100 golfers with precision and composure to secure the first spot on Team Uganda. The series then moved to Jinja Golf Club, where James Abiria earned his ticket through disciplined and consistent play. The final qualifier at Entebbe Golf Club saw Irene Sekabembe rise above a highly competitive field to clinch the last slot.
NCBA Chief Executive Officer, Mark Muyobo, noted Uganda’s growing influence in regional golf, citing increased participation by women and young players. He highlighted the NCBA Golf Series as central to the bank’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering cross-border sporting opportunities.
“Golf in Uganda is undergoing a remarkable transformation, driven by the energy of our women and youth. Through the NCBA Golf Series, we are not only supporting the sport, but also creating pathways for talent to shine beyond our borders and positioning Uganda firmly on the regional golf map,” Muyobo said.
Now in its third season, the NCBA Golf Series has cemented its place as one of East Africa’s premier amateur golf circuits. Each qualifying leg challenges players’ mental and technical abilities, helping shape competitive golfers across the region.
“Our mission is to nurture talent, provide meaningful exposure, and support Ugandan golfers to excel regionally and internationally. Golf, like banking, thrives on discipline, strategy, and integrity values that NCBA proudly upholds,” Muyobo added.
As Amani Beau, Abiria, and Sekabembe head to the demanding Muthaiga Golf Club, excitement is high. For the trio, the Nairobi finale represents both the reward for months of hard work and a chance to lift Uganda’s flag on a regional stage.
The 2025 NCBA Golf Series continues to demonstrate its role as a unifying regional platform connecting nations, developing emerging talent, and shaping the future of golf in East Africa.
